Solotica contact lenses review. Hidrocharme Mel.

I’ve worn contact lenses on and off for 11 years… I was actually a bit too young to be wearing colour contacts when I first started wearing them, my older sister would go in to the chemist and buy them for me because I was under 16 …. I go through phases of wearing colour contacts daily for a few months and then having months or even years where I don’t wear them at all, I have dark green eyes and I just like to brighten them up a little  bit. I like to stick to colour contacts which aren’t too different from my own eye colour so i always pick green contacts just to make my olive green eyes look a bit brighter

I did some research and decided to go with the brand solotica they have a few green shades I was torn between  “Esmerelda” and “Mel”, Esmeralda was too intensely green for me and I didn’t think it would blend in with my own eye colour very well, so I decided to go with the shade Mel because they are a natural green shade with a yellow undertone which is perfect for me as my own eye colour has a greeny yellowish undertone to it. solotica do 3 different styles of contacts in varying opacity’s

Natural Colours these have medium opacity and a light limbal ring.

Hidrocor  has high opacity and no limbal ring. personally I find these the most unnatural looking from the range

Hidrocharme has high opacity and a more prominent limbal ring. this is the style I went for as I personally think having a more visable limbal ring makes them look far more natural in my opinion

Pros

Colour  I have to say these are the most natural looking contacts I have ever worn there’s no weird unnatural patterns on the contact lenses design, and no one can tell I am wearing contacts. My sister who has the most beautiful deep dark brown eye’s   tried these on (I know you aren’t supposed to share contacts and I wouldn’t ever share them with anyone other than my sister and it was only for a few minutes….don’t judge me) but on her almost black eyes they still looked natural just a slightly darker green colour to what they look on me.

Diameter  solotica contacts have a diameter of 14.2 mm which gives me a slight enlargement effect which I really like.

Comfort even after wearing them for hours my eyes never feel dry or heavy

Price/life span these contacts cost £60 which seems a lot at first if you compare it to the other contact lens brands which are slightly cheaper. But solotica contacts last up to 1 year without needing to be replaced, where’s most other contact lens brands  only last 1-3 months so in the long run you end up spending more money on the cheaper ones because you have to replace them more often.

               Cons

Slipping if I move my eyes or head quickly the contacts slip around my eyes, I don’t find it uncomfortable but i just find it to look very unnatural and gross when it happens.

Adjustment sometimes I find these contacts don’t adjust to the correct position on my eyes, They seem to adjust quite low on my eye which means part of the green pigment on the contacts ends up covering some of my pupil, impairing my vision and making me quite short sighted. This is a really big con for me this has never happened with any other contacts I have worn. Because of this i don’t wear these contacts as often as i would like to but if they fixed this issue i would without doubt wear these everyday.

Batch inconsistency solotica seem to change the opacity and colour of their contacts quite frequently which can be an issue when reading older reviews or trying to gauge what the contacts might look like on you when viewing older pictures of people wearing previous batches.

Overall I do like these contacts and would give them a 7/10 rating wise. My  main issue with them is the coloured part of the contact covering my pupil. If it wasn’t for that i would give these contacts a 10/10 rating.

Have you tried solotica contacts? If so which shade is your favorite, and has anyone else experienced the coloured part covering your pupil?
